This print and many others from the series, can be viewed at the Museum of 

Lancashire. They were produced for the exhibition on witchcraft, a joint venture

between the Lancashire Witch Project and the museum. It runs until the

23rd of March 2002.

 

The photograph was shot in the well tower at HMP Lancaster Castle .

Special permission was granted and I was escorted by a prison officer!

It was pitch black down there, with only the prison officer's torch to 

focus my camera with. Apparently the water in one of the wells (the other has

not been tested), still contains enzymes from bodies that died and were buried 

in or near the castle grounds... yuk. And it was the clearest water I ever saw.
