This print and many others from the series, can be viewed at the Museum of
Lancashire. They were produced for the exhibition on witchcraft, a joint venture
between the Lancashire Witch Project and the museum. It runs until the
23rd of March 2002.
The photograph was shot in the well tower at HMP Lancaster Castle .
Special permission was granted and I was escorted by a prison officer!
It was pitch black down there, with only the prison officer's torch to
focus my camera with. Apparently the water in one of the wells (the other has
not been tested), still contains enzymes from bodies that died and were buried
in or near the castle grounds... yuk. And it was the clearest water I ever saw.
